It's very fun to play!
Different players go for different collections. So you'll have to change your strategy every game, depending who you are up against.
Lots of players prefer to collect Boston Cream because you can get really big scores with them, like 15 or 25 points (if no one interferes). Some players like to collect Plain because you get 3 bonus points if you have the most but some players aren't fussed about Plain donuts at all.
If you have to pass a negative card to another player, don't pick the player immediately before you. Otherwise if the "all players pass a card to the left" card is activated, that negative card will end up back in your hand.
However, you may also choose to pass that card to the current highest scorer to reduce their score.
If you think lots of people are going to go for the same card and there is a "Take the top card from the discard pile" (Eclair) you can bid on on a further number, it might be good to take a risk and bid on that. This will only work if the Eclair card is after the card you really want!
Similarly, it's risky to bid on Eclair if there is a negative card before Eclair. For example: if Red Velvet (-2 points) is in position nuber 1 and Eclair is in position number 3. If 2 players bid on Red Velvet that will become the top of the discard pile and you will gain negative points.
If you bid on "Chocolate frosted" remember that you may get a negative card from the top of the deck.
Collecting "Boston cream" can be fun but the score is 0 if you have an odd number of cards. If you currently have a positive score on Boston Cream, all it takes is for another player to pass another Boston Cream to you to reset your Boston Cream score to 0.
