Tips hardback
Don't worry too much about using all your letters. Any card can be a wild card, and you'll get a fresh hand on your next turn regardless of how many letters you use.
Work to specialize in one or two genres so that you have a better chance of drawing multiple cards of the same genre in a single hand.
Use your opponents' Timeless Classic cards in your words before their next turn! Even though you don't get their benefits, it's often worth the effort, because it's the only way to prevent their owners from gaining ongoing benefits.
Press your luck with ink to get more benefits and buy more powerful cards. But because you have to use all the letters you draw with ink, be careful how much ink you use in a single turn.
Don't count on cards staying in the offer row until your next turn!
Don't be discouraged by how few points you get your first few turns, points will become much easier to get later on.
Getting ink remover early in the game can be very helpful in the future, since you can ink with safety.

Don't be discouraged by Penny's early lead. Give yourself time to build your engine by focusing on cards that provide coins in the beginning. This will let you buy the cards you need and control what is available to Penny.
Don't buy the cheap cards, especially in the beginning. Unless the card has benefits you really want, it's much better to leave it for Penny and take ink instead.
Jail high-cost cards to prevent Penny from purchasing them. Regardless of what genre you focus on, try to include some of the Mystery cards with "jail offer card" as a basic benefit (above the line).
