On the second turn, we had a roll of 1, 3, and 8. I placed the 1 and 3, and locked it in, then decided to try some other locations instead and restarted my turn. However, the 1 and 3 actually stayed on the board, and I was able to place second copies of each. That didn't show up for my opponent until after the next turn, but obviously I was two boxes ahead of them because of this unfair duplication.
