It's somewhat easy to miss the land-adjacency of some parishes (Blyth-Tuxford; Bingham-Remston, for example). This may be especially true for newer players. A slight darkening of those borders may be helpful (assuming publisher approval).
Another interesting possibility could be that each parish could have a very, very slight blue or red hue covering the entire territory of that parish to represent the parish population's view. The cardboard blue and red markers provide the necessary information, but the slight hue encompassing the entire parish would aid with reference of territorial borders (the borders themselves would remain uncolored) and also highlight the henchmen/merry men in each space.
