Detailed description

What is the purpose of the button „I‘m ready“ in turn-based games?
I may understand that in real-time games, all players should confirm that they are ready for the next round, because they may interrupt another players turn by playing a mirror card out of the turn order.
But why do I need to click „I‘m ready“, when playing turn-based games? Today, it was „my turn“, but all I could do was to click „I‘ready“ and then my turn automatically ended and I have to wait until the next player will do his/her turn.
I believe that this confirmation is unneccessary in turn-based mode -
• Please explain what you wanted to do, what you did and what happened
