• Please copy/paste the error message you see on your screen, if applicable.
I played a few public games with random people, and when someone doesn't manage to find a riddle's solution, they can just stall the game unless we kick them.
Please, just make it so players reaching the allowed time limit on a riddle automatically give-up on it. -
• Please explain what you wanted to do, what you did and what happened

In the linked table, a player stalled indefinitely (about 4 minutes which is the maximum time limit of the table) and was eventually kicked out, nullifying the whole result.
In real time I can set a different timeout?
Yoann
But many of us just don't want to kick people. It feels a bit butal, and takes 20+ seconds.
Game enforcing the rules would fluidify this and remove unneeded tense.
Of course, the player just wanted to find the answer to the riddle, which makes sense... BUT the problem is we ALL had to wait for them.
After 30+ seconds of overtime, someone finally clicked the kick button.
Note they still had the option to skip riddle during 20 seconds before being kicked, but maybe they didn't even know, or tried to click it in the last seconds...
It's also quite common for someone to have some short IRL urgency needing a few minutes of AFK (phone call, children management...)
Anyway, kicking doesn't feel cool AND screws the whole game's results, for everyone.
Have a special time limit in real time ?
In extreme mode it's normal to spent more than 5 minutes to solve some puzzles.
And in easy mode 1 minute is the maximim.
How to manage this with SIMPLE tules?

This may need a separate timer so you have full control over it, but I'm not sure.
(Game's here, but is coop and needs 2 players : boardgamearena.com/gamepanel?game=nowboarding)
I suspect SkyTeam does the same using the regular timer, but would have to double check first.
--
In realtime, riddles should probably also auto-start after maybe 30 seconds max, since waiting time is just here to let you breathe between 2 riddles.
--
Speaking of "simple rules", I don't see any need for something fancy.
Just keep in line with BGA's "slow/normal/fast" pace for timers.
This ticket is about enforcing the respect of timers, not asking more or less time (only stats or community could tell us about the "right" durations for every level of riddle, which may even vary per "universe")
I plan to add an auto giveup system when timers runs out.
But only if the player launches the game. If he even not launch the game he will be expelled as usual..
Yoann
The backend can read this timer setting and imo this is more reliable than reading from the frontend which can be manipulated easily:
en.doc.boardgamearena.com/Main_game_logic:_Game.php#BGA_predefined_globals
Be able to read the current time left of a player when he is currently solving a puzzle and send a give up action when the timer runs out.
I think my only way is to read the html.
Yoann
Only if he already laucnh the puzzle.
