You need to build to the Time Warp so they are connected, else they don't count unless they are on the same map. In the PDF rules, once a line has been claimed, a train of that colour is supposed to be placed on the Time Line displayed at the top of the Board (as depicted on Page 14 of the Railways of the World Rule Book Compendium). That is not occurring.
