• Please copy/paste the error message you see on your screen, if applicable.
IN the stats for this game we have distance sailed and distance explored.
Especially sailed isn't a very meaningfull stat.
a stat that would be very interesting is total turns taken.
I understand this should be the same for all players, but it's interesting to know what the average number is for certain people, and it helps compare scores.
In a game where players can take between 33 and 12 turns *( or something, didn't do the exact math) this is relevant. -

Report history
We can make it a table statistic if there's enough interest. It wouldn't be a player stat because, as you noted, it's the same for all players.
I'll leave this open to gauge interest.
So average turns could still be a player statistic right?
No, that's not how BGA stats work. They only pertain to the single instance of the game.
> If I were starting a game, and I see
You don't see stats until the game concludes because, as mentioned, they only apply to that instance, so there's nothing to measure before it starts.
When I am in an Ark Nova game, I can check my opponents stats on Ark Nova and see all their average stats on Animals players, certain actions upgraded etc.
And in a pirates game I can see my opponents stats as well, like:
Residences built 1.53
Is it really that different because number of turns is the same for all players for a certain game?
For statistics that are the same for all players, they should be considered TABLE statistics. If they differ by player, they are PLAYER statistics. I will not implement a player statistic if it's going to be the same for all playerse because that's precisely what the table statistic is intended for.
Out of curiosity I looked at Harmonies, which has equal turns per player. The stat is counted as a table stat at the end of the game (as 2X turns) and as a player stat as well (X turns), and there are averages per player in the overall stats. So the precedent does exist. However in Pirates this isn't even a problem because as I said you can have different numbers.
They don't? Will you provide a firm example?
It *doesn't* matter who finishes each round. If you finish a round, the following player immediately takes the next turn at the beginning of the next round. So it seems to me that everyone gets the same number of turns.
> So the precedent does exist
The precedent of other people handling things incorrectly doesn't concern me. If the number is the same for everyone, it's a table stat, not a player stat.
I do understand that it matters to count items in the correct place. But the game length is player driven, with some players moving quickly, others slowly, so it's still an interesting stat to track averages for. I understand if it's technically not correct to include it in the player stat, but functionally it makes a lot of sense. In GWT for example you can have 1 turn difference between players, but it's not that one turn that makes the difference in the averages, it's how fast a player usually moves in their games. Same thing in Ark Nova, it has at most 1 turn difference between players, yet averages will still give a lot of information about a player (even more there, because crossing 100 vp really fast usually means a win).
