Report history
You are correct. I have looked over the image files and found there is 80% compression on the files. I now have the uncompressed files and after some testing we think they will work great uncompressed with the highest quality.
I don't think we will be increasing the resolution of the images as this would change the look and feel of the game on smaller devices such as mobile phones.
Thank you for this suggesstion. I am currently working on a new release for this. I'll update this suggestion when it is implemented.
I've tested this and we think the cards look clearer. Thanks for pointing this issue out.

I compared it to x.boardgamearena.net/data/themereleases/current/games/sevenwondersduel/201210-1330/img/buildings_v2.jpg which shows the buildings for 7 Wonders Duels and found a higher resolution and bigger file size (according to my browser). So there might be some room for improvements?
Thanks for looking into this and this could work for Dice Summoners. We could increase the file size above 2MB. We have the orginal artwork and it is around 9MB in size.
The reason BGA recommends that we have a maximum file size of 2MB is to ensure to people on mobile devices can play easily on the move without having too much downloads. I know this isn't a great reason and reduces the quality for other users but I do think we should make the game available for everyone.
I'm not sure what the best solution here is but if the BGA file size changes we will increase the quality of the images. I wish there was a better reason.
accessibility is a geat reason, playing on mobile without being too hard on mobile data should be possible without a problem, no doubt!
Sadly, I don't know enough about web development and browser data storage to offer a solution. If they have to download the image everytime they start a game of dice summoners, that's way too much. If the image would stay cached, this probably wouldn't be a bis problem.
For me the text and symbols on the cards are borderline unreadable as is. Luckily, the tooltips work great for showing the actions available
I've been looking into your suggestion and I think this could work. It still needs more development and testing but having the cards as part of the tooltips could work. I'm working on different layouts and styles to make this easier on the user.
I'll keep this ticket updated as it progresses.
The other solution of having the image in tooltips can still work but I would have to implement logic for two separate sets of cards with two different images to do this. This added complexity means it will take a while to complete.
I am currently looking into other options to resolve this.
Games such as King of Tokyo use tooltips to resolve this issue. What issue are you having with the tooltips?
There are games such as Sushi Go Party that use higher-resolution images. This could be implemented but it would require some rework of how the images are done.
