• What happened when you tried to do this (error message, game status bar message, ...)?
In some cases, a card from the table was placed into the player's meld box (but wasn't a valid card to play), or perhaps it was the card intended for use in replacing a joker got put there (as opposed to the "Replace Joker" box). In other cases we got error messages. In all cases it may have come down to not being able to understand if a joker on the table was selected or not.

Not sure if a wizard-like interface could be done where you can click "Go down with table joker" and it walks you through "place complete meld(s)" "place incomplete melds" "put card to replace joker in 'Card for Joker'" "select joker to replace"
How about if I change it to work this way:
* If there is only 1 joker on the table, the game should try to use the CARD FOR JOKER card to replace it. So, there's no need for the player to select a joker.
* If there is >1 joker on the table then a pop-up would appear and the player can select which joker to try to replace.
I think I may be able to figure that out.
I really like the idea of auto-picking the joker if there is only one on the table. That makes total sense.
What if you have text in the "Card for Joker" box that helps cue? Say text above the card in the box that only appears if there is actually a card there. It could say "Joker selected" if you've picked a joker to replace (or if there is only one), and it could say "please select a joker to replace" if you haven't picked a joker.
I think it is intuitive and people will want to place the card that will replace the joker into that box. So if by having a card in that box the box then tells you how to finish being ready to go down?
(Oh, and per a different report, I also think joker selection not showing a change on-screen, at least on Chrome, is part of the confusion. Having a visual cue that you've got a joker on table selected or not would help a lot)
Of course a gotcha here is that you can be preparing your meld on other peoples' turns, and the selected joker may get replaced. Just a detail to react to as you process the notification for a selected joker getting taken into a player's hand I guess.
And it is a tangent to this ticket, but if you're putting guidance text in the boxes, it would let you add "incomplete meld", "too many cards", and "contract not met" in the meld boxes to help guide players. I think we all at some point had a 4 card set in the meld box and when you click "Go Down" you get a somewhat cryptic error message. If putting a fourth card for a set (or a fifth for a run) in the box had it immediately say "too many cards", I think players might figure it out quicker. And similarly if you mistakenly put in 2 runs when it should have been a set and a run, the last meld box for the contract can tell you "contract not met" (which I'm thinking only appears once each meld box has a complete run or set in it). An idea anyhow (and let me know if you'd like me to enter it as a separate Report for your tracking if you think you'd like to do it, but maybe not right away and you want to track it).
