I find that many players are not sufficiently alert to endgame triggers. A suggestion:
1) if you put up the last share of a company for auction, and it's the 3rd company to have no shares, a warning should trigger: "If this share is sold, the game will end at the next dividend. Continue?"
2) If there are 3 or fewer trains left in the company stock, and it will be the 3rd company to run out of trains, then a warning should trigger: "If you place all of this company's remaining trains, the game will end at the next dividend. Continue?"
I guess you could also have a warning for developing a lot of houses but I've never seen the game end that way. Same for the 8th Detroit dividend but again I've never seen the game drag on that long. -
