Four times in recent tournaments (all turn-based, one Swiss others Round Robin) a player ran out of time - usually by several hours. Only way to deal with it - waiting doesn't help - is to skip him. Even then the clock doesn't seem to run and the only thing to do is quit. The game result page records a win OK, but the scoring in the tournament gives half point each. In at least three of the four games the offending player was miles - and I mean really miles - behind. This is obviously wrong!

Report history
"Seriously pissed off! I ALWAYS play ALL my pending moves three times a day. Before I go to work. When I get back. And after my evening meal. And yet I am given a loss in this tournament because I had to wait for my opponent to play (which he only did once every 36 hours.) and we therefore exceeded the time allocation for the game. He got the win despite me only having one counter left on the board and he had only removed four! I have as a result lost all interest in this tournament which I created in the first place! "
Assuming that's actually what happened it's outrageous.
PS - this tournament is Swiss turn-based
Some players were using time joker on tournament games. Then the game was lasting too long and was cancelled for "not being played in the allocated time frame". Then the player who used the time joker was declared winner as he was having the biggest remaining time ...
In some case, the winner of a game was not marked as "1" in tournament (eliminated from a single elimination tournament or not having +1 point on Swiss based).
