At this time, all race cars automatically move forward to fill any vacated
segments within the space they currently occupy. This means at the
beginning of each turn, you will either be in the front segment of a
space, or in a segment directly behind another race car. -

Report history
Move #70
According to the rule, all cars should move forward automatically until reach another car or at the top of one space. At the beginning of this game, we spent some turns shopping without moving and the leader car, which belongs to the red player, didn't move to cross the start line automatically. However, another player moved trigger the momentum and move the red car. This happened in move#70.
I'm not sure if BGA will let me properly replay your game until you've finished it (at least, I've never figure out how), but can I confirm: is this purely about the VERY FIRST move in Tucson? (ie did a player sit on the start line and not move until turn 70?)
If so, I will triple check with game designer, but that behaviour is based on the rules which are specified for that map:
"The checkered flag that marks the start/finish line cuts through two spaces (A and B). These spaces should still be treated as normal spaces with the checkered flag serving like any other dashed segment line. However, the player starting the game on “P1: $10” should treat that segment as a distinct space until they move out of it. This means, for example, if they play one white cube on their first turn they would move forward 1 segment to the front of space A. Likewise, player 1 should ignore momentum until they have moved out of space A."
So, momentum does not apply to that first space on Tucson until you have moved.
Does that sound like it matches the issue that you had?
Keep playing your game. But let me know when it's done and I'll be able to study the replay then.
If I understand correctly, the bug may be in the OTHER direction... if the first player moved over the line with momentum after ANOTHER player overtook them, then I don't think that is meant to happen. There's simply meant to be no momentum in that first space until you have moved - but I have sent David Short a request for an absolute clarification.
Thanks for reporting it! Please let me know when your game is over.
Thank you for your support.
We've finished the game and please check it.
I've heard back from David Short *and* reviewed the replay - thanks for that.
I can confirm that the P1 segment in Tucson is a special case and there is no momentum out of that space UNTIL A PLAYER HAS MOVED. That's not a global rule about momentum - it's just a special rule for that track.
Which means that I *can* confirm a bug from your replay, but it's not the one you were expecting! When IzWzl moved into the black space, Flareworks should NOT have momentumed forwards like they did: it seems that my implementation incorrectly has momentum kicking in for that space once *anyone* has moved rather than once the player has moved.
Otherwise, the holding up of players on the straights on Tucson is... a strategy. It didn't ultimately work for Flareworks here (congratulations on your win!)
Thanks for the report!
Apologies for the incredibly lengthy delay but I can confirm that the actual bug here (if you are the starting car in Tucson, Momentum should NOT apply to you until you have moved) has been fixed.
