I suggest that the feature is ALWAYS active, also during other players turns AND also suggest that the highlighting works overing any card available in all continents, not only the one where you are at that moment.
This would help a lot to plan some move in advance when other players are in their turns.
(Eventually a switch on/off for this feature, during the gameplay)
