I had 3 desert tiles-- 1 of which was given by my explorer tile --and 31 points before placing the grassland tile which grants 3 points per desert tile, so 3*3 = 9 new points added, but my score only went up by 6 points.

I also noticed, though, that the card tip for the grassland tile shown when hovering over it says "2 points per desert tile" instead of 3-- it may be that the bug isn't with disregarding the bonus desert tile but instead with mistyped card info for that grassland tile?
