I also understoo the reasons: your calculation is: number of magic items (8) x 3 - 3 (For the scepter itself). BUT in this case, since i DINT't really own the scepter, the calculation is wrong. It should be: 8x3, then IF the player has the scepter (not copy of it) remove 3 crystals.
