Detailed description

• Please copy/paste the error message you see on your screen, if applicable.
Mike completed the purple column midgame but did NOT have a house when doing so. So he scored the lower score (2 instead of 3), which is what we expected. However, this also knocked out the higher score for me, even though I had not yet finished this column. If we're reading the English rules correctly (from the BGG pdf link), the higher score for a column should only be knocked out for all other players if/when someone scores the higher score with a house.
In fairness, if this is not the case, the official rules don't make that clear. In fact, the simply stated rules totally imply, IMO, that the higher score SHOULD still be available. But maybe that's wrong..? -

Report history
The rules say :
"• If this is the first time this column has been
completed by any player this game then the
player(s) who completed it this round should
mark [circle] on the larger number at the top of the
column.
To score these higher points the player(s)
must have at least one Cat House in the column.
All other players then mark an [X] on that larger
number to indicate that the higher score is no
longer available.
• If the column was completed in a previous round
it can still be completed by the other player(s).
However, this column now scores fewer points
and the player(s) who complete it should mark
the small number with [circle]."
So once the column has been completed, you can't get the larger amount of points.
The subject has been discussed on bgg too.

Regards
"3- CHECK FOR COMPLETED CAT TOWERS
Once all players have marked an item or passed, check if any
player has completed a Cat Tower (one individual column) by
having all the available hexes of that tower filled with items.
That player, and all other players who completed the same
tower on that turn mark a [circle] on one of the numbers at the
top of the tower.
• If the player(s) who completed the tower has a Cat House in
that tower, they mark the larger number with a [circle] All other
players mark [X] on that number to show that those points
are no longer available.
• If the player(s) who completed the tower does not have
a Cat House in that tower, they mark the lower number
with a [circle]
Once the larger number has been marked with a [circle], any player
who completes that tower on a later round marks the lower
number, even if they have a Cat House in the tower."
So this is the opposite, IMO, and seems to mean that the larger number is always available until the turn in which at least one player gets it.
Game-design-wise, this just seems to make more sense to me. If you don't/can't get a cat house for the higher points, you should not be semi-"rewarded" for finishing that column first. It removes, IMO, some of the incentive to try and score max value.
And finally, that BGG thread does NOT have a definitive answer :) Just a guess from a user (who even says "I think" right up front) :)
The publisher posted on the bgg topic, and didn't come back on it to tell that the last answer was wrong, so...
Without any definitive response I had to implement a way to do it.
I took all informations I found, and did the best I could.
Without any clarification from the publisher, it will score the way it is implemented.
Thanks again for your feedback
