It's not too bad on the spells, but with the monsters, the defence shield is over the cost so it's difficult to see what it originally cost, especially if the monster is depleted from the central pool.
Depending on how you've focused your symbols, e.g. maybe you have not many cards which use salt, it's important to know what that card would cost to replenish if you chose to take shields from that creature to defend, so if I know it costs salt in this example maybe I want to make sure to take shields from it first so I have better options if I roll salt however if it does NOT cost salt then maybe I want to take shields from a salt costing defence, or something similar... -
