Maybe the person who sets up the game will have a selection tool that allows them to adjust the teams after all have agreed to play. Or can ask at the start if you want a randomized team selection. Right now, it seems determined by order of who accepted the invite (is that correct)?

Report history
In the 4 times Decrypto has been set up, there have only been two configurations of the teams shown (instead of all 3 possibilities)
Not allowing players to choose teams just takes away a lot of the fun of the game for no reason. When you play in person, people choose teams, and they can cheat in person, too. It is so much more fun when you know your teammate and have a good idea of what clues they might get.
Plus, if you have the setting on for choosing teams, anyone joining the game will see that setting is on, so I'd they are worried about cheating, they can join a different game. Everyone will be aware of the risk and can make their own choice.
If it's just because that's some work to implement, "it allows to cheat" is irrelevant here..
