disclaimer: I checked previously proposed suggestions but couldn't find anything similar. That said, feel free to point me to any previous suggestion I missed.
As is apparent with multiple previous suggestions, the board is quite busy and things are hard to see. If you hover over a card however, the board is darkened (I don't believe that the colored dots on the board that denotes your expeditions and other players are lightened) and things are much easier to see.
My suggestion would be to add a setting for the game that allows you to darken the board and set the default board darkness to how much you want it to. For example, if right now the board is at 0 darkness by default but at 100 darkness when you hover a card, allow players to set the default darkness at any point between 0 and 100.
I'm thinking of a personal setting, not something that you set per game. Something like the setting in Hadrian's wall which allows you to set the size of the player boards. -
