ClutronWelcome to the Fluxx tutorial! As the name suggests, Fluxx is a game of constantly changing rules and goals, and so what is needed to win often changes from turn to turn. So expect chaos when playing this game. Lets get into it.1baseRuleCard001
ClutronHere in the middle are the current rules for the game. The game starts out as draw 1, play 1. That means on every person's turn you will draw 1 card and then play 1 card. Whenever a new draw rule or play rule is played it will replace the current one, and will take effect immediately.2baseRuleCard000baseRuleCard 2
ClutronOver here will be the limit rules such as hand size limits and keeper limits. Only one of each type (hand or keeper) can ever be in play so once a new limit is played, the old one is discarded.3limitsStock000limitsStock 3
ClutronBelow that are the extra rules, these are the other rules that don't relate to limits or the draw/play rules. These can be like playing a card directly from the deck, drawing more cards if you satisfy certain conditions, allowing additional goals, and so on.4othersStock000othersStock 3
ClutronOver here is where the current game winning goal will be displayed. Like the others, when a new one is played the old one is discarded. If there is more than one goal out because of a special rule, you will pick which you replace. When you satisfy the requirements of the goal card, you win immediately.5goalsStock000goalsStock 1
ClutronDown here is the draw deck and discard pile. You can always examine the discard pile because several cards let you pull stuff out of there. If the draw deck ever runs out, then the discard is used to create a new draw deck and play continues.6flxDeckBlock000discardStock 2 deckCard 3
ClutronAll the way down here (scroll down a bit) is the keeper area, this is where you will have all your keeper cards. Keeper cards are needed to satisfy the goal cards in order to win the game.7flxMyKeepers000
ClutronTo make things a little easier, all the keeper cards in play are also shown in their icon form over here in the player windows, along with the number of cards in everyone's hands. To get more information on the keepers in play beyond their icons, you will have to scroll down.8player_board_88487293000
ClutronAnd last on our tour is your hand of cards. You start with 3 cards, and so with the draw 1 rule in place we drew 1 to have a hand of 4 cards.9handStock000
ClutronThese green cards are keepers, you collect them by playing them to the table. They are what you collect to satisfy goal cards and win.10handStock_item_9000handStock_item_9 3
ClutronThese pink cards are goal cards, when you play them they become the game winning combo or condition. For example, if the *Winning the Lottery* card is the current goal, you will win if you have both [red]Dreams[/red] and [green]Money[/green] in your keeper area.11handStock_item_17000handStock_item_17 1
ClutronThese blue cards are action cards. They let you perform an action on your turn like swapping hands, drawing cards, stealing card, shuffling keepers, and more. They do exactly what they say so you can just mouse over them to see what they do. (This one lets you discard rules in play) A lot of the chaos comes from these cards and the rules cards.12flx-card-overlay-317000handStock_item_32 2
ClutronLet's go ahead and play our turn. Putting out a keeper is never a bad move, so lets play the *Rocket*.13handStock_item_9010handStock_item_9 16
ClutronThese yellow cards are new rules, playing them will modify or add rules to the game. In this case our opponent played a *Draw 4* rule, meaning now instead of drawing 1 card, we draw 4 cards at the start of our turn. And since rules take effect immediately, when our opponent played it he drew 3 more cards so that he drew a total of 4 cards on his turn.1drawRuleStock_item_94617047321ecb800drawRuleStock_item_94 1
ClutronThis goal card over here sets the win condition as having 10 cards in hand, and with Draw 4/Play 1 being the rules right now, that can happen quickly. Let's see if we can get more cards in our hand so we can assure our victory!2handStock_item_36617047321ecb800flx-card-overlay-101 1
ClutronLet's play the *Rock-Paper-Scissors Showdown* action card. This has us playing Rock-Paper-Scissors with our opponent three times, and whoever wins twice gets to take all the cards of the loser. Let's hope we win!3flx-card-overlay-305617047321ecb810handStock_item_30 16
ClutronUp here it shows us who we can target with the action card. Since it's a two-player game we have only one option, lets go ahead and see how we do in the showdown.1button_88487293617047ccaddc500
ClutronAlright, we won the showdown! Now we have all the cards we need to win. Let's hope we keep them to our next turn.1flxTable6170492189b2401
ClutronThis is one of the rule cards I mentioned before that can give you extra actions to do on your turn. *Goal Mill* allows you to discard goal cards in order to draw more cards.1othersStock_item_676170d184c7d2f00
ClutronNow it's time to win the game! Let's play the *10 Cards in Hand* goal card.1flx-card-overlay-1016170d18c03aaf10flx-card-overlay-101 16
Clutron*WE WON!!*1flx-win-dialog-goal61715c99c749700
ClutronAnd there you have it, those are the basic rules for Fluxx. Fluxx is a fun and silly game if you allow it to be. Also remember that games can be really short, or can be very long depending on how things play out. If you have any more questions you can consult the game's BGA page for videos and links to the rules. Have fun!2flx-win-dialog-goal61715c99c749701
