In this game, we travel to Indonesia to plant flowers, grow trees, and attract animals. Who will cultivate the most breathtaking patch of rainforest? NekonyancerAt the beginning of each round, several cards are dealt into a [red]*shared market.*[/red] The number of cards depends on the number of players: *1/2* players: 3 cards. *3* players: 5 cards. *4* players: 7 cards. Each round, players will take turns taking cards from the market to plant flowers in their rainforest until all the cards are gone. Then a new round will begin!2pagemaintitletext

NekonyancerAfter [blue]*9 rounds,*[/blue] the game will end. Players will score points for... • *Areas* that they managed to cover in flowers of a single color. • *Trees,* which require players to double up flowers on single spaces. • *Animals,* which are rewards for completely covering areas in trees. NekonyancerIn each round, the player with the [red]*Pangolin token*[/red] goes first. BGA randomly gave it to us. [green]Let's get started![/green]4meeple-pangolin

NekonyancerWe have to select one card in the market. Each card has *1-3 flowers* on it. We will then plant flowers of the indicated colors into our rainforest. When we do, we must plant them in *orthogonally connected* positions, meaning up/down/left/right.5flower-card-2

NekonyancerWith that in mind, let's plant our first flowers! *1.* Select the card with *3* flowers on it. NekonyancerYou've probably already noticed that our board is divided by rivers into *areas.* Each area has two numbers on the top, indicating point values. The *left* number indicates how many points we'll earn if the area is completely covered by flowers of a *single color.* The *right number* indicates how many points we'll earn if we attract an *animal* on that area.2maintitlebar_content

NekonyancerFor instance, if we completely cover [red]*this area*[/red] with flowers of a single color, we'll earn *4* points. If we attract an animal, we'll earn *6* points. [green]We'll learn how to attract animals later.[/green]3cell-92146574-0-4

NekonyancerNote that the left values on [red]*these three areas*[/red] have turned [red]negative.[/red] That's because each area that is *unfinished* (has empty spaces left) or *mixed* (finished but with different colors) is worth [red]negative points![/red]4meeple-18

NekonyancerThere's one more rule I need to mention before we take our next card. From now on, at least one flower we place must be orthogonally connected to a *previously placed flower.*5turn-counter-wrapper

NekonyancerIt's our turn again, but I want to explain *trees* before we go. To plant a tree on a space, all we have to do is plant a *second* flower on top of another one. The second flower will automatically be replaced with a tree. NekonyancerTime for our second turn of the round. We can certainly put the card with 2 black flowers to good use, completing the area in our top-right corner. I want to show you how *Animals* work though. When we plant trees on every space in an area, the last tree we plant is replaced with an *Animal.* Afterward, we may add one flower of any color to each adjacent space. This is called *fertilization.*1meeple-pangolin

NekonyancerWe can get an animal this turn by placing a second red flower on [red]*this space.*[/red] The only way we can get a red flower right now is from by taking the [blue]*Pangolin*[/blue] token.2meeple-23

Nekonyancer*1.* Select the [blue]*Pangolin*[/blue] token. *2.* Click on the space with a red flower. This will place a tree on the space. *3.* Click on the space again to replace the brand new tree with an *Animal.* *4.* Click on the space with a White flower to fertilize it. NekonyancerGreat job! The point value of each animal depends on the size of the area. Since this area is only 2 spaces, the animal is only worth 3 points. [green]Still, not bad![/green]1meeple-32

NekonyancerNote that the animal came from a limited supply. There are three animals associated with each color, though they're all functionally the same. If we run out of animals of a particular color, no one else will be able to get animals of that color anymore!2animals-reserves

NekonyancerBy the way, we can only place *one animal per turn,* so we can't set off chain reactions of fertilization. In same cases, you might want to abstain from fertilizing so you can finish an area later and get another animal!3meeple-7

NekonyancerOkay, that's everything! After 9 rounds, BGA will count up the scores! Again, scores consist of: • [green]Positive[/green] points from *Animals.* • [green]Positive[/green] points from *areas* that are completed covered with flowers of a single color. • [red]Negative[/red] points from *areas* that are unfinished or covered with multiple colors. • +2 points per *tree.* [green]Whoever has the most points wins![/green]4maintitlebar_content

NekonyancerBy default, this game is played with *"First Game"* toggled on. Once you get more experience with the game, you might consider switching to... *Base,* which enables more difficult boards with inconveniently shaped areas.5maintitlebar_content

Nekonyancer*Advanced,* which adds five *Ecosystem cards* to the game. These cards provide additional objectives players can go for. For example, this objective grants an extra 2 points for each tree on a yellow flower! In *Solo* mode, the player will draw 3 cards at a time, select 1 to play, and discard the other two. After 18 such turns, the game will end.
