gideon142Welcome to *Nimalia,* a 2-4 player game about placing tiles to create the best animal reserve. 1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment000
gideon142The game is played over 5 rounds. Each round, you are dealt 3 cards with *4 animals on each card.* After playing a card onto the board, players pass the remaining cards in their hand either to the left or right player. [red] (indicated by the arrow icon on the player profile) [/red]2nimalia-card-27-front000round-number-icon 1
gideon142In Nimalia, there are *4 different types of terrain*: savanna, forest, snow, and water. *Each type of terrain also has 2 different animals*, for example, [blue] water terrain [/blue]can either have a flamingo or a crocodile.3archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment000
gideon142The only outlier is the *otter,* which can be savanna, snow, or forest. The *otter* also makes [blue] rivers. [/blue]4archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment000
gideon142The terrain and different animals will matter in a bit when we talk about the goals.5archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment000
gideon142For now, play our first card onto the board. Play the middle card in our hand by clicking on it then clicking on [red] square 14 on the board, [/red] and then click *validate* at the top.6nimalia-card-54-front010place-card-button 16 square-85761427-14 1
gideon142Great! *After the first card is played there are some new restrictions for playing cards.* Now anytime you play a card it must *overlap* with at least one of your animals already in play.1nimalia-card-54-front661423423c09700
gideon142You can also *rotate tiles* left and right to get the orientation that you want.2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment661423423c09700
gideon142Now let's talk about the goals. The goal of the game is to score points based on [blue] 4 different goals [/blue] shown at the top of the screen.3goal_11661423423c09700goal_11 2 goal_19 2 goal_15 2 goal_21 2
gideon142*In each round you can only score points from the highlighted goals.* For example round 1 uses only the green and the blue goal.4goal_11661423423c09700
gideon142[blue] The goals active each round [/blue] are also shown on the player panel. Note that overall each goal is active in total for 3 rounds.5additional-icons-85761427661423423c09700additional-icons-85761427 2
gideon142Take a second to hover your cursor (or hold on mobile) over each [blue] goal [/blue] to see how to score points with it.6goal_11661423423c09700goal_11 2 goal_19 2 goal_15 2 goal_21 2
gideon142Now that you have seen all the goals, *where on the board do you think we should place our next tile, and which tile should we play?*1square-85761427-14661485632138a00
gideon142Right now the best play is to take the bottom tile (right side tile on mobile) and play it in the 7 square overlapping the crocodile. (Click the tile then the 7 square then validate)1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment6614856f7030010place-card-button 16 square-85761427-7 1
gideon142The reason this is the best play is because it gives us another penguin in a new column that will score 3 more points at the end of the round.1square-85761427-86614937f36eaf00
gideon142Time to play the final tile in this round. Nothing on this tile is very helpful towards any of the goals, so play it [red] on square 9 [/red] to open up your board a little. (click on the tile then square 9 then validate)2nimalia-card-27-front6614937f36eaf10square-85761427-9 1
gideon142Now that everyone has finished playing the first round the points are added. [blue] You can see that both players scored 0 points for the blue goal, [/blue] [green] and we scored 6 on the green goal while the opponent only scored 3. [/green] You can also see the total points scored across all rounds at the end. 1table-wrapper6615228335eb400round-1-goal-2-85761427 2 round-1-goal-1-85761427 3 round-1-goal-2-89452411 2 round-1-goal-1-89452411 3 goal_19 3
gideon142The game continues for 4 more rounds and as you can see the *green and yellow* goals are now the active ones.1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment66152ce32389200
gideon142I think you have seen enough of the game to understand how to play, so good luck in your first games of *Nimalia.*2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment66152ce32389200
gideon142Thank you for playing my tutorial. Thanks to *Mizutismask* for the BGA adaptation of this game.3archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment66152ce32389200
