We are proud and happy to introduce on Board Game Arena Through the Ages: a Story of Civilization, a game by Vlaada Chvátil published by Czech Games Edition

How and at which moment a board game became a legend? Difficult to say, but for many of us, TTA is one of the greatest games in board games history. A look at its BoardGameGeek page is enough to convince you: 3000 comments, 11k ratings, and according to this website the second best board game ever.

Last year, when we decided to introduce turn-based mode on Board Game Arena, we were looking for a flagship for this new mode: a very good long and strategic game that requires too much time to be played in realtime. Needless to say TTA was our first choice, and I would like to send a big THANK YOU to the CGE team for being the "sponsor" of this new mode on Board Game Arena. CGE is one of the hottest board game company at the moment: they published a serie of incredible hits during the last years including TTA, Tzolk'in, Galaxy Trucker, Tash-Kalar, ...

TTA is a civilization game, which by the way have some point in common with the Sid Meier's Civilization videogame. During the 4 ages of the game (from Antiquity to Modern Age), you must win a maximum number of Culture points (little "harp" symbol) by setting up an efficient combination of technologies, military units and buildings. You have to face various events, and attacks from the other players. You have to choose your leaders carefully, and to improve your government from the initial archaic Despotism form the the most modern ones.

This news is of course way too short to introduce such a board game monument. If you don't know the game yet, we advise you to look at the rules or video rules on TTA game page on BGA where a increasing number of resources is published. However, now that turn-based mode is available on BGA, if you want to learn TTA you can just start a game and start to learn while playing the game.

TTA is available on BGA with 3 different tastes: simple, advanced and complete. The complete version is the "real" TTA, but for your first game don't hesitate to try simple or advanced mode: there are shorter and afterwards you'll know the basics of the game.
