Overview
There are 48 cards (rank 1-12, 4 each) in the deck.
Generally, the rank from low to high is from 1 to 12. But players will reposition the dickory board in the game.
Round Start
Shuffle the deck and deal 11 cards to each player. Place 6 card on the middle as queue.
The rightmost card in queue shows the highest rank. The dickory board will shows the new order.
On Your Turn
The lead player must play a meld (combo). There are 5 meld types:
- Single: 1 card
- Double: 2 cards in the same rank
- Triple: 3 cards in the same rank
- Quadruple: 4 cards in the same rank
- Run of 3: Exactly 3 cards of consecutive rank.
If you are not the lead player, you must do one of the following action:
- Beat the previous meld: Play a meld with the same type with higher rank (The rank of a run is always determined by its rightmost card)
- Take card(s) from the queue and beat the previous meld: You may take 1-5 cards from the right of the queue. You can never take the leftmost card on the queue (one card must left). Then you must beat the previoust meld with the new rank order.
- Pass and refill the queue: If there is more than one card in the queue, discard the rightmost. Then, add card(s) to the queue on their left until there are 6 cards. The last player played a meld be the lead player.
Game End
Once a player clear their hand, the player score 1. Start a new round until a player reach the target score.
Variant
In both variant, there are two additional melds: Run of 2 cards and Run of 4 cards
Hickory
In the cases outlined below, you may now alter the previous meld by adding one (1) card to it:
- If the previous meld was a single, double, or triple, you can beat the previous meld by playing a higher ranking meld of the same type OR you may now add one card to the previous meld to form a double, triple, or quadruple.
- If the previous meld was a single, run of 2, or run of 3, you can beat the previous meld by playing a higher ranking meld of the same type OR you may now add one card to make it a run of 2, run of 3, or run of 4.
You CANNOT add a card to a quadruple or to a run of 4; you would have to beat these melds with a higher-ranking meld of the same type.
