Nekonyancer[img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/https___snipboard.io_yXl1IW.jpg[/img] At the heart of the Mediterranean, rival cities seek wealth and glory. The key to this success is, of course, proper urban planning! [green][tip] This tutorial is best viewed on a computer.[/green]1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment000
NekonyancerIn *Akropolis,* players will take turns drafting tiles from the [red]*Construction Site.*[/red] Players will then carefully add them to their cities so they score as many points as possible. You may need to gather and spend *stone* to increase your options. When almost all the tiles have been claimed, [green]whoever has the most points wins![/green]2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment000market 1
NekonyancerWhen you take a tile and place it in your city, it must border one of your existing tiles along *at least one edge.* All three of [red]*these tiles*[/red] are available, but the cost in *stone* increases as you go from left to right. As you can see in your inventory, we only started with [blue]*2 stone!*[/blue]1market-tile-476447a56ca834a00market 1 stones-icon-11941354 2
NekonyancerLet's just go with the free one. *1.* Select the [red]*gray*[/red] part of the free tile. *2.* Select the space in your city that touches the center blue tile on its north-east edge. *3.* Click to reposition the tile until it looks like this: [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/https___snipboard.io_TfOQbY.jpg[/img] *4. Finally, continue to the next box.*2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment6447a56ca834a00market-tile-56-hex-0 1
NekonyancerGreat! That was our first turn! That wasn't so bad, was it? [blue]Now our opponent will take their next turn...[/blue]1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment6447a587420fe00
NekonyancerSince there was only *one* tile left in the Construction Site after our opponent's turn, a stack of tiles was added to it, with the [red]*previously unpurchased tile*[/red] moving to the first position in the line. You can see how many stacks are left [blue]*here.*[/blue]1market-tile-596447a59d4b56f00remaining-stacks 2 market-tile-59 1
NekonyancerNow that we know how a turn goes, I can get to the fun part! Each tile has three different construction hexes. These hexes fall into [blue]three categories:[/blue] *- Quarries* (gray tiles). *- Districts* (colorful tiles). *- Plazas* (colorful tiles with stars).2market-tile-4-hex-26447a59d4b56f00
Nekonyancer[red]*Quarries*[/red] grant 1 stone when you build on top of them. (We'll get to this soon!) [blue]*Districts*[/blue] grant points if they are correctly placed. [green]*Plazas*[/green] multiply the value of your scoring Districts.3market-tile-46447a59d4b56f00market-tile-59-hex-0 2 market-tile-59-hex-1 2 market-tile-59-hex-2 1 market-tile-4-hex-0 2 market-tile-4-hex-1 1 market-tile-4-hex-2 3 market-tile-13-hex-0 2 market-tile-13-hex-1 1 market-tile-13-hex-2 3
NekonyancerEach kind of district has a different scoring criterion. For example, [blue]blue districts represent houses,[/blue] and your citizens want to live in one large neighborhood. Thus, only your *largest group of connected blue districts* will score. [green][tip] The chart in the bottom-left corner of your screen has scoring info on all the different districts![/green]4archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment6447a59d4b56f00
Nekonyancer[img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/https___snipboard.io_2RIthw.jpg[/img] Right now, we only have [red]*one blue district,*[/red] so it is also our largest group of connected blue districts. [blue]That means it can score![/blue] We also have [green]*one blue plaza.*[/green] Plazas do not have any scoring conditions, and they do not have to be connected to their respective districts to count!5archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment6447a59d4b56f00
NekonyancerPoints are determined by multiplying the number of scoring districts by the number of stars on plazas of the same color. [blue]We have 1 scoring blue district and 1 blue plaza star.[/blue] 1 x 1 = 1 point! Hooray!6color-points-1-counter-wrapper-119413546447a59d4b56f00color-points-1-counter-wrapper-11941354 2
Nekonyancer[red]Alright, that's enough about plazas and districts.[/red] Earlier, I mentioned that *quarries* provide 1 stone each when you build *on top of them.* Let's learn more about that now!7archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment6447a59d4b56f00
Nekonyancer[blue]There are two main rules to remember when you place a tile on top of other tiles:[/blue] *1.* All three hexes of the new tile must have a *foundation.* No floating hexes allowed! *2.* The new tile must cover hexes from more than 1 tile.8archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment6447a59d4b56f00
NekonyancerLet's try it! *1.* Select the [blue]*blue hex of the free tile.*[/blue] *2.* Click on our purple plaza. [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/https___snipboard.io_mshoWE.jpg[/img] Note that you can't reposition it because there's only one valid position for placement. *4. Finally, continue to the next box.*9archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment6447a59d4b56f00market-tile-59-hex-0 2
Nekonyancer[green]Great job![/green] Now we have *two* connected blue districts! And if you check our [blue]*scoreboard,*[/blue] we're currently scoring... 3 points for blue? What?1color-points-1-counter-wrapper-119413546447a5c0d514300color-points-1-counter-wrapper-11941354 7
NekonyancerThat's because districts on *higher levels* are worth more points! 2nd level = double 3rd level = triple [red]And so on![/red]2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment6447a5c0d514300
NekonyancerAlso, we covered up two *quarries* when we placed that tile, so we gained [blue]*two stone*[/blue] - one for each! Unfortunately, we also covered up a purple plaza, so we won't get points for that anymore.3stones-icon-119413546447a5c0d514300stones-icon-11941354 2
Nekonyancer*And that's it!* The game will continue as you've seen until all but one tile have been claimed. Then points are counted up, and [green]whoever has the most points wins![/green]4archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment6447a5c0d514300
Nekonyancer[blue]One last thing:[/blue] If the game isn't complicated enough, you can toy around with the five *variants!* There's one for each district color, each granting an opportunity for *double* points!5archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment6447a5c0d514300
Nekonyancer[blue]Here are the conditions for the variants:[/blue] *Blue:* collection of districts must have value of 10 or more. *Yellow:* Districts are next to yellow plazas. *Red:* Districts are next to 3 or 4 empty spaces. *Purple:* Districts are on higher levels. *Green:* Districts are next to lakes (empty spaces that are completely surrounded by your tiles). Accomplishing a condition grants double points for that color! [green][tip] For more info, check the last page of the rulebook![/green]6archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment6447a5c0d514300
Nekonyancer[blue]*Thank you for playing through this tutorial for Akropolis!*[/blue] If you have any questions or comments about the tutorial, feel free to send *Nekonyancer* a message! A big thank you goes out to *Thoun* and *Tisaac* for bringing this game to BGA! Have fun! :D7archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment6447a5c0d514300
