3p1cFr3nzy[img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/https___i.imgur.com_s8vcwwi.jpg[/img] Welcome to Jurrasic Par- ... oh wait, we've travelled back in time to the late Cretaceous period. Your goal as scientists is to create a habitat with the optimal amount of each type of dinosaur species, hoping that this will help the dinosaurs survive extinction. *Will you beat the competition and create the best dinosaur habitat?*1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment000
3p1cFr3nzyThis game revolves around collecting sets of different dinosaur species, as well as pressuring other players to take cards they don't want to take. Sets of dinosaur cards will score differently for each species type, and the winner will be the person with the most points at the end of the game :) [blue] [tip] This tutorial plays best on a PC. Due to limited game space, phone users will have to minimise messages often. [/blue]2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment000
3p1cFr3nzyThe [blue]*top part*[/blue] here will be card hand you can either *take for yourself* or *pass* to someone else, which could either benefit or harm you and your opponents during the round! Down below you will see your *card collection* and others' collections too, in which collected cards will be visible to *all players.*3archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment000cbsr_hand 2
3p1cFr3nzyAnyways, let's start with the basics: *Set collection*. Each dinosaur species will score based on the number of cards in that set, as shown below: [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/https___i.imgur.com_x5Prazo.png[/img] For example, *brontosaurus* scores 5 points for 3 brontosaurus cards, but -5 points for 4 or more brontosaurus cards.4archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment000
3p1cFr3nzy*!!! If the Stegosaurus card has not shown up at the top, please wait until it does.* As such, taking this [blue]*Stegosaurus card*[/blue] will give us 2 points, so let's take it! Press 'Accept the hand' at the top to continue. 5archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment010button_accept 5 cbsr_ttbar_18 2
3p1cFr3nzyGood job! When someone *accepts* a hand of cards (even if it's only one), the top card from the deck is revealed and the *next player* will then get to choose if they want it or not. This repeats until *no cards can be drawn from the deck.* 2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment639ba24bad44400
3p1cFr3nzy-1 point for taking this hand - Ouch :( No need to worry - you can choose to pass on this hand of cards to the next player by playing a *card of your own* into the hand! Talk about pressuring your opponents... !!! You can only add 1 card to the hand on your turn, but you can do it again if the hand comes back to you.1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment639ba282e36fd00
3p1cFr3nzyAs *T-rexes* apparently like to be solitary, adding a T-rex to the Pterodactyl hand would result in -3 points to 3p1cFr3nzy if he accepted it! Let's do exactly that. Choose your [green]*T-rex card*[/green] to add to the [red]*Pterodactyl hand.*[/red] !!! *Clicking the wrong card to add to the hand will break the tutorial, so be careful when selecting the card.*2cbsr_ttbar_18639ba282e36fd11cbsr_ttbar_37 1 cbsr_ttbar_1 3
3p1cFr3nzyIt looks like 3p1cFr3nzy doesn't want the hand either - let's send the hand back by playing a *Stegosaurus*! Select the [blue]*Stegosaurus card*[/blue] to add to the hand.1cbsr_stego_item_18639ba2952e3b410cbsr_stego_item_18 2
3p1cFr3nzyLooks like we get a strong +7 points if we take this hand, even if we didn't want it in the first place. Lets take it. You can take the hand yourself this time ;) [tip] It is a gain of 7 points from taking the hand, but given that we lost 6 points for adding a [green]T-rex[/green] and a [blue]Stegosaurus[/blue], this results in a *net gain* of 1 point.1cbsr_hand639ba2a9c0fd010cbsr_ttbar_1 3 cbsr_ttbar_18 2
3p1cFr3nzyAwesome! Now we have plenty of cards in our collection if we ever need them to avoid taking hands later on.1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment639ba2ad35f8200
3p1cFr3nzy(Ignore the strange moves beforehand) Here is an example when adding cards to the hand becomes tricky - you cannot add a card which is *already present* in the hand! As such, we cannot add another [red]Pterodactyl[/red] or [blue]Stegosaurus[/blue]. Lucky for us, we can force 3p1cFr3nzy to take this hand if we add a certain card. Can you figure it out? Press continue to see the solution.1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment639ba2cc7888e00cbsr_ttbar_22 2 cbsr_hand_item_35 1 cbsr_ttbar_18 2 cbsr_ttbar_37 1
3p1cFr3nzy*Did you get it right?* If yes, congratulations - you will be a feared opponent :O That's all there is for taking your turn, so to recap: You can either: [red]1 - Accept the hand and take *all* the cards. [/red] [green]2 - Add 1 card from your *collection* to the *hand*. The card you play *must not match a card already in the hand.*[/green] 1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment639ba2d09556c00
3p1cFr3nzyLet's fast-foward a little bit:2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment639ba2d09556c00
3p1cFr3nzyHere we see a [red]velociraptor[/red], which like to be in pairs! To gain points for velociraptors, you must pair a [blue]black[/blue] velociraptor with a [red]white[/red] velociraptor. If they are in a pair, the positive value on each card in the pair is scored (otherwise the negative value is scored). In this example, we gain 3 points for taking the velociraptor (2 points for the pair as opposed to -1 point for only the black velociraptor)1cbsr_eggs639ba2dba6faa00cbsr_ttbar_42 1 cbsr_black_raptors_item_51 2
3p1cFr3nzyLast but not least, let's quickly go over the last type of card: *Eggs*. Here we have a [red]*Brontosaurus* egg card.[/red] You will *gain points* if you have the *most* or *joint most (same number as one or more other players)* cards of that particular dinosaur species, and you will *lose points* if not, so make sure to fulfil this condition! [tip] The eggs have matching colours to the dinosaur, so if needed, use the dinosaur icons to match the eggs to the dinosaur type if its hard to distinguish certain colours.1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment639ba2e03ff8600cbsr_ttbar_16 6
3p1cFr3nzyAt the end of the round, points will be added up and the card collections will be reset for the new round (4 more starter cards per player), and the player with the highest total points wins the game! 2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment639ba2e03ff8600
3p1cFr3nzy*Is this game too simple for you?* Why not try the DNA evolution variant: - Every card you take that has a 'DNA icon' earns you a DNA token, in which tokens can be traded in for a DNA 'powerup' card to aid you or punish opponents. See below for clarity: [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/https___i.imgur.com_gDqFSvY.png[/img] [tip] Only one person can buy a particular DNA card.3archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment639ba2e03ff8600
3p1cFr3nzyAnd that's the end of the tutorial! I wonder what species you will collect in your first game? Thanks for making it to the end and I hope you enjoy playing this fun little game! And a big shoutout to *Tabaskov* for bringing this game adaptation to BGA! [blue] [tip] If you have any suggestions, feel free to message 3p1cFr3nzy. I appreciate it.[/blue]4archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment639ba2e03ff8600cbsr_ttbar_38 aHR0cHM6Ly94LmJvYXJkZ2FtZWFyZW5hLm5ldC9kYXRhL3R1dG9yaWFscy9odHRwc19fX2kuaW1ndXIuY29tX2h6anhLS3IucG5n/-535/-750
