The future is full of wonders, and they're all up for grabs! You must guide your empire's development and dominate the competition!
[green][tip] This tutorial is best viewed on a computer![/green]1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment000
NekonyancerA game of It's a Wonderful World has *four rounds.* In each round, players will draft a set of cards and then choose which cards they will recycle for resources and which cards they will actually construct.
Many cards grant *victory points* when constructed.
[green]Whoever has the most points after 4 rounds is the winner![/green]2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment000
NekonyancerEach player starts with one *empire card.* Here's a breakdown of all the info:
[img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/https___snipboard.io_gAp8PX.jpg[/img]
The most important info is in the top right corner: *Victory points* and *Production.*3archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment000
NekonyancerFor example, [red]*our empire card*[/red] will give us *1 point* for each [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/https___snipboard.io_GTkJaQ.jpg[/img] we have. Those are called *Financiers.*
The card also produces *3 gray resources and 1 yellow resource* every round.
[green][tip] Financiers are actually worth 1 point by default, so for us, they're worth two each![/green]4iww-empire5000iww-empire5 6
NekonyancerNext, let's examine the cards we'll be drafting. There's a lot of info on these!
[img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/https___snipboard.io_HznA67.jpg[/img]5archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment000
NekonyancerLet's take a closer look at the [red]*Harbor Zone card.*[/red]
It will cost *5 yellow resources* to construct (top-left corner).
When constructed, it will grant *2 points* (bottom-left corner) and *two financiers* (above bottom-center).
It will also produce *2 gray and 2 yellow resources each round* (bottom-center).6iww-card143000iww-card143 6
NekonyancerThe card's type is *Gold* (bottom-right corner).
Finally, if we recycled it for resources, it would give us *1 yellow resource* (above bottom-right corner).
[green][tip] If you get confused, just hover over the card with your mouse! A tooltip will pop up![/green]7iww-card143000iww-card143 6
Nekonyancer[blue]With that, let's jump into the game![/blue]
The first phase of each round is the *Drafting Phase.*
There are *ten* cards in front of us. We'll pick one to keep and pass the rest to our opponent.
[red][tip] When playing with 3/4/5 players, there are only 7 cards in front of each player![/red]8archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment000
NekonyancerThis *Secret Society* card grants 1 point for each Financier we have, just like our [red]*empire card!*[/red] If we grab this and go all in on financiers, we can rack up a lot points!
*Select the Secret Society! Then click on "Confirm" at the top!*9iww-card150010iww-card150 16 iww-empire5 6
Nekonyancer[blue]We passed our remaining cards to our opponent and got a new hand of 9 cards in return![/blue]
This *Industrial Complex* will give us a financier and yellow resources. It's perfect for us!
*Take the Industrial Complex!*1iww-card45632ff6620acd510iww-card45 16
NekonyancerWe passed the remaining cards again and got our first hand back! We'll keep selecting cards and passing hands until each player has *drafted 7 cards.* The remaining 3 in each hand will be discarded.
[blue]In 3/4/5 player games though, each hand starts with only 7 cards, so all the cards will be drafted![/blue]1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment632ff67dc187600
NekonyancerI think you get the gist of it now, so I'll fast-forward to the end of the draft...2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment632ff67dc187600
Nekonyancer*Okay!* The draft phase is over, and [red]*here are the seven cards we chose.*[/red] Now the *planning phase* will start.
In this phase, we must decide what to do with each card. Cards can either be:
[blue]- Slated for construction[/blue]
OR
[blue]- Recycled for a resource.[/blue]1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment632ff763b3ebc00iww-card150 1 iww-card45 1 iww-card6 1 iww-card46 1 iww-card143 1 iww-card119 1 iww-card13 1
Nekonyancer[blue]If a card is slated for construction,[/blue] it will be moved into [red]*this tableau.*[/red] We'll then be able to allocate resources to fulfill the requirements in the top-left corner of the card.
[blue]If a card is recycled,[/blue] we'll get the resource shown in the bottom-right corner of the card. We can then place that resource on a card that's under construction!2iww-playerRow-11941354632ff763b3ebc00iww-playerRow-11941354 6
NekonyancerLet's try it!
*1. Select these cards.*
*2. Click on Begin Construction.*
*3. Continue to the next box...*3iww-card6632ff763b3ebc00iww-buttonConstruct 18 iww-card150 17 iww-card45 17 iww-card6 17 iww-card46 17 iww-card143 17
NekonyancerNow for the recycling part...
*1. Select these cards!*
*2. Click on "Recycle" at the top!*
*3. Using the buttons on the cards, allocate one gray resource to the Wind Turbines, and one black resource to the Industrial Complex (second card from the right)!*
*4. Continue to the next box...*4archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment632ff763b3ebc00iww-card119 17 iww-card13 17
NekonyancerGreat job!
That's it for the planning phase, so we've moved onto the *construction phase!*
In this phase, our empire card and our completed structures will *produce* resources, one resource type at a time!1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment632ff85a1e08e00
NekonyancerThis handy board here shows the order in which resources are produced, from left to right. *Gray resources* are up first!
[img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/https___snipboard.io_8S4Mdc.jpg[/img]
And look! There's a *financier* icon at the top of the circle! It indicates that whoever produces the most gray resources this phase will earn a free financier!2iww-board632ff85a1e08e00iww-productionMarker0 9 iww-productionMarker1 9 iww-productionMarker2 9 iww-productionMarker3 9
NekonyancerOur empire card produces 3 gray resources. That's more than our opponent, so we got a free *financier!*
Next, we have to allocate those resources...3iww-empire5632ff85a1e08e00
Nekonyancer*1. Click on "Allocate 3" at the top!*
*2. Allocate all 3 resources to the Industrial Complex (the one that already has a black resource in it, second card from the right), completing it.*
*3. Click on "Confirm production" at the top!*4archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment632ff85a1e08e10iww-buttonConfirm 19
NekonyancerGreat! We completed the [red]*Industrial Complex!*[/red]
It was tucked behind our empire card so only the production part is showing. It will now contribute to our production!1iww-card46632ff873164e100iww-card46 6
NekonyancerNext, everyone will produce and allocate [blue]*black resources.*[/blue]
... but no one has any.
If anyone did, whoever produced the most would get a [red]*general!*[/red] They're very similar to financiers.1iww-productionMarker1632ff87d160b900
NekonyancerNext, everyone produces [green]*green resources.*[/green]
But again, no one has any.
The financier/general icon at the top of the circle indicates that whoever produced the most green resources would take one financier *or* one general (their choice).2iww-board632ff87d173b600
NekonyancerNext, everyone produces *yellow* resources. What's this? We produced... *TWO?*3iww-buttonProduction632ff87d193d500
Nekonyancer*That's right!* Our [red]*Industrial Complex*[/red] produced the second yellow resource, even though it was completed just a couple steps ago, during the same production phase!
[green]This shows you'll have to plan around the resource production order if you want to maximize your efficiency![/green]4iww-playerRow-11941354632ff87d193d500iww-card46 6
NekonyancerOur opponent, [red]*nekonekoneko3,*[/red] also produced 2 yellow resources this round, so neither of us received a free financier.5archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment632ff87d193d500
Nekonyancer*Allocate both yellow resources to the Harbor Zone. Then click on "Confirm production" at the top!*6iww-card143632ff87d193d510iww-card143 16
NekonyancerFinally, everyone produces [blue]*blue resources.*[/blue] Whoever produces the most receives 1 *general.*
But again, neither we nor our opponent have any blue production, so nothing happened.1iww-productionMarker4632ff89bba1c700
Nekonyancer[blue]*Okay! That's the end of the first round!*[/blue]
After three more rounds, the game will end!
I just have one more thing to show you before we move onto scoring.2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment632ff89bbbc1900
NekonyancerClick on [red]*nekonekoneko3's*[/red] tab to look at their tableau.
Do you see those two yellow resources in the middle of [blue]*their empire card?*[/blue]3archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment632ff89bbbc1900iww-tab-92143487 6 iww-empire4 7
NekonyancerThey *chose* to place them on their [blue]*empire card*[/blue] instead of, say, on their *Secret Society card.*
Why? Well, whenever you have *five resources* on your empire card (type does not matter), they can all be exchanged for one *crystallium,* a very rare resource!
[green][tip] This exchange rate is shown in the bottom right corner of the empire card![/green]4iww-player92143487632ff89bbbc1900iww-empire4 7 iww-card149 13
NekonyancerSome cards, like [red]*Secret Society,*[/red] have crystallium as a *cost!* Others, like [green]*Parallel Dimension,*[/green] will give you some for free once constructed!5iww-card149632ff89bbbc1900iww-card149 6 iww-card114 8
NekonyancerOkay, that's everything! The game will continue as you've seen for a total of four rounds. After that, all *completed cards* will be counted up for points!
Everyone also gets 1 point for each financier and 1 point for each general they have!
[red]Incomplete cards and extra resources (even crystallium) are worth nothing![/red]6archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment632ff89bbbc1900
Nekonyancer[green]Whoever has the most points is the winner![/green]
*Tiebreaker 1:* Whoever has the most completed cards!
*Tiebreaker 2:* Whoever has the most financiers and generals.
If players are still tied, the victory is shared.7archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment632ff89bbbc1900
