3p1cFr3nzy(For phone/tablet users, you can minimise the text box on the top right) Welcome to *Just One*, a cooperative party game about trying to describe the word shown on a card, so the active player can guess the word shown on it :D Before you say, "That sounds easy" - think again! There are some things that can foil your plans along the way :P1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment000
3p1cFr3nzy!!! All clue/mystery words in this tutorial will be in *English*. You can see who is guessing from the 'triangle icon on their profile: ([red]Mine Hawk[/red] is the guesser) There is also a judge (for this round the judge is [red]militant[/red]). Their role is to make sure rules are obeyed during the game. The judge and active player will rotate after the end of every round. 2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment000player_board_inner_e8983e 1
3p1cFr3nzyAll [blue]non-active players[/blue] (not guessing) will type in a word and *only* one word which can describe this mystery word. For this round, we are giving a clue. *But here's the catch* - as well as having "just one" word to describe the mystery word, there can only be "just one" copy of the clue word! 3archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment000player_board_inner_6f4c98 2 player_board_inner_f1b944 2 player_board_inner_da5573 2 player_board_inner_be3633 2
3p1cFr3nzy*Let's give our first clue!* For this round the mystery word is *Table*. Please note: All word inputs in this tutorial are now removed due to translation issues. Apologies in advance :/5archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment000
3p1cFr3nzyI think that people will write things like wooden, desk, dining or chair. Let's try the word 'legs' and hope no one else put that word. [tip] Word inputs are not case sensitive when you play this game for real :) 7archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment000
3p1cFr3nzyLooks like we all had valid clues, so Mine Hawk has got 4 words to help her get the mystery word! Let's hope she is right...1card-mystery635ad8faac1bb00
3p1cFr3nzy*!!! Please wait until the guess is given a green check mark symbol to avoid bugging the interface.* Mine Hawk got it correct! Great minds think alike as they say 8) When guesses are spelt exactly the same as the mystery word (case sensitivity doesn't matter), the judge does not need to determine whether it was right or wrong. Let's look at an example where judges are required. 1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment635ad9381ccdb00
3p1cFr3nzyFor this round, we will be the judge for [green]militant's[/green] guess :) Our role is to *exclude incorrect or duplicated clues*, as well as determine if the guesser got it correct or not. You can see the types of invalid clues below the *player easel* (where you can type in a clue). 1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment635ad93c4cbe900overall_player_board_88834111 3
3p1cFr3nzyThe mystery word this time is *Baggage*. I would say suitcase instead of baggage, so maybe let's try that word? The judge will then check for valid or invalid clues once everyone has typed in a clue :)1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment635ad9b27972700
3p1cFr3nzyOh dear - [blue]Mine Hawk[/blue] and [red]Hanzu[/red] both went for the word 'travel'! This means that both words are eliminated, leaving us with only suitcase and airport, which are valid clues. *Press the Submit button to continue. You may also notice the identically spelled words are crossed out automatically.* 1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment635ada1851e0910button-yes 16 player_board_inner_f1b944 1 player_board_inner_e8983e 2
3p1cFr3nzyLet's hope militant gets it correct... (Ignore the 'Submit' button - that is a bug) [tip] It is a good idea not to be too obvious with your clue, as it usually is more likely to be a duplicate - the more clues, the better! (Unless you lead them astray...)1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment635ada1e2d09f00
3p1cFr3nzyOuch - looks like there were too few clues to narrow it down to Baggage :( For the judge, they will click correct or incorrect for the guess, to account for any spelling mistakes (cannot show due to an interface bug). In addition to not scoring a point, we also lose the next card! That hurts :/ 1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment635adae3e38ba00
3p1cFr3nzyTo sum up how scoring works: - If the active player correctly guesses the Mystery word, your team get to keep the card. The number of cards the team keeps is your point total. - If the active player chooses to skip, your team loses this card only. - If the active player gets it wrong, your team does not get any points and loses the next card.1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment635adae82c90f00
3p1cFr3nzyYou can track your score using this [green]score tracker shown on the top right[/green]. !!! If you get the last card wrong and there are no cards left in the deck, you lose a point! Better safe than sorry I suggest...2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment635adae82c90f00score-block 3
3p1cFr3nzyLastly, if you are the judge and there are invalid clues, you can click on them like to cross them out like so (right picture is after clicking: [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img6785ecd7909931.74333156.png[/img] 3archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment635adae82c90f00
3p1cFr3nzy*And that's all folks!* Finding a balance between being too obvious (to cause two identical clues) and being too obscure is really not that easy. Also maybe try to learn some new things too - the diversity in the type of clues given makes this game such a delight to play over and over again! 4archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment635adae82c90f00
3p1cFr3nzy*How close can your team get to the perfect score of 13?* Finally, a big shoutout to *KuWizard* for bringing the game to BGA, as well as *Mine Hawk* and *Buddhanature* for all their help making this tutorial! [blue] [tip] Feel free to message 3p1cFr3nzy for any feedback. I really appreciate it.[/blue]5archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment635adae82c90f00
