Nekonyancer[img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/https___snipboard.io_V9e0U5.jpg[/img] This was once a small sleepy town, but the affordable property prices have attracted investors like yourself! You can help this town thrive! [green][tip] This tutorial is best viewed on a computer![/green]1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment000
NekonyancerIn *Streets,* players take turns playing buildings from their hands onto the board. Each building attracts a different sort of person and scores points in a different way. Whenever a street is "enclosed," the buildings on it will score. When the [blue]*deck*[/blue] is completely empty, the city is complete, and [green]whoever has the most points wins![/green]2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment000tbp-stack 7
Nekonyancer*We're the first player!* We have to play one of these three cards onto the board. When we do, the street part of the card [red]must touch an existing street[/red] on the board at a single point. The touching streets can be laid *end-to-end* or perpendicularly, forming a *T-intersection.* They may not be laid side-by-side to form a wider street. *Go ahead and select the Art Gallery. Then click on "Continue!"*3tbp-hand000tbp-hand 1
NekonyancerBGA should now be showing you all the possible placements for the tile! *Place it to the right of Central Station! Then click on "Continue!"*4archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment000
NekonyancerTwo arrows should have appeared, allowing you to *rotate* the building. *Click on them a few times!* As you can see, there are only two possible positions. BGA won't allow you to position the building so that the streets do not connect!5archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment000
NekonyancerThe tutorial actually doesn't like it when you play with the arrow buttons, so... *1. Cancel your placement.* *2. Select the Art Gallery again.* *3. Place it next to Central Station with the street along the bottom.* *4. Click on "Place" at the top!*7tbp-tile12010
Nekonyancer*Great!* Since the street parts of the tiles are touching *end-to-end,* the Gallery is [blue]on the same street[/blue] as Central Station. There can be a maximum of five buildings on a street. Two things happened when we confirmed our turn. *1.* A [red]*sign*[/red] was placed on the tile, showing who owns the building. The owner of the sign will score points for the building later!1tbp-tile12-people641106a088a7500
NekonyancerAs you can see in our inventory, we only have [red]*four more signs!*[/red] If we run out, we'l have to move a sign from an old building to our newest one!2tbp-resources92143487641106a088a7500tbp-signs92143487-sign 1
Nekonyancer*2.* Our building attracted a [red]*yellow meeple!*[/red] This is because the Art Gallery has a yellow symbol at the bottom. Accordingly, the [blue]*Chillax Spa*[/blue] in our hand will attract two blue meeples!3tbp-meeple5641106a088a7500tbp-tile24 7 tbp-meeple5 1
NekonyancerThere are *five* different kinds of symbols, but they don't have any unique mechanics. [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/https___snipboard.io_CxFGOs.jpg[/img] Well, except for *Wild.* Wild symbols can function as any other symbol, but they do not attract meeples.4archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment641106a088a7500
NekonyancerFinally, we added another building to our hand to replace the one we played.5tbp-tile41-people641106a088a7500
NekonyancerSpeaking of hands, did you notice that you can see the back of your [red]*opponent's hand?*[/red] We don't know exactly what the cards are, but we know what *types* they are! [blue]Of course, they can see the back of our hand too![/blue]6tbp-tile-11941354-1641106a088a7500overall_player_board_11941354 6
NekonyancerThat's enough info for now. We placed a building, so our turn is over. Now our opponent will place a building!7tbp-tile12-people641106a088a7500
NekonyancerAlright, next turn. Let's see what happens when you "enclose" a street, which is when both sides of the street hit [blue]intersections.[/blue] *Select the Car Park. Place it next to the Art Gallery, but click on the RIGHT button ONCE to rotate it. Then click on "Place" at the top!*1tbp-tile41641106d6c934510
Nekonyancer[red]Alright, let's unpack what just happened.[/red] First of all, another sign was placed on the Car Park, showing that we own it and can score it later. We didn't place any meeples on the Car Park because Wild symbols do not attract meeples.1tbp-tile41-people641106ead7f7e00
NekonyancerNext, since our placement enclosed [red]*this street, *[/red] all the buildings on it were scored! If you hover over the art gallery, it will tell you that it scores *2* points for each *Hipster* (yellow) symbol on the same street. There's one on Central Station, and one on the Art Gallery itself!2tbp-tile12-people641106ead7f7e00tbp-tile1 6 tbp-tile12 6
NekonyancerAny buildings with symbols *pointing* into the street count too! Thus, the Car Park's Wild symbol added another 2 points! In addition, each building scores *1 point* for each meeple on it. There's one meeple on the Art Gallery, so we got one extra point.3tbp-tile41-people641106ead7f7e00
NekonyancerSo, to summarize, [blue]The Art Gallery scored...[/blue] - 2 points for Central Station's symbol. - 2 points for its own symbol. - 2 points for the Car Park's wild symbol. - 1 point for meeples. [green]That's a total of 7 points![/green] Since it was scored, the [red]*ownership sign*[/red] returned to our inventory.4tbp-tile12-title641106ead7f7e00overall_player_board_92143487 6
NekonyancerNext, let's talk about the meeples. When a street is scored, all meeples on the street will wander onto buildings of the *matching color* on *unenclosed* streets.5tbp-tile1-people641106ead7f7e00
NekonyancerThus, these *green meeples* went to hang out at this [green]*Incredible Daycare.*[/green] It matches their color, and the street is not enclosed. If there are multiple appropriate buildings available, the active player can choose where they go!6tbp-meeple3641106ead7f7e00tbp-meeple6 12 tbp-tile27 8
NekonyancerUnfortunately, all the other meeples had nowhere to go! Remember, *wild* symbols do not attract meeples, so they couldn't go to the Car Park. Since they have nowhere to go, they all have *FOMO* - Fear Of Missing Out. [green]They will move to an appropriately colored building as soon as one is available![/green]7tbp-tile1641106ead7f7e00
NekonyancerOur opponent decided to place a *yellow* building, which immediately attracted the Yellow FOMO-ed meeples! Remember, each meeple is worth *1 point* when the building is scored!1tbp-tile16-people6411074de02b900
NekonyancerNow it's our turn to place. Hover over the *Indie Stage!* It says it's 2 points per yellow meeple on the street. [blue]Hah! Our opponent played right into our hand![/blue]2tbp-hand6411074de02b900
Nekonyancer*Place the Indie Stage above the Bicycle Repair Bar* (the building with all the yellow meeples). *Click on the LEFT arrow button ONCE. Then place the building!*3tbp-tile1-people6411074de02b910
Nekonyancer[red]Excellent![/red] If you hover over our new Indie Stage, you'll see that it's currently valued at $ 8! We're off to a great start!1tbp-tile38-people6411076ac239000
NekonyancerThe game will continue as you've seen until [red]*every building has been placed.*[/red] That means that your hand size will be reduced to 2 and then 1 remaining card at the end of the game! After that, all buildings on unenclosed streets are immediately scored, but they only score *HALF* of their points, rounded up! [green]Whoever has the most points wins![/green]2tbp-stack6411076ac239000tbp-stack 6
NekonyancerI've covered everything for the *base game* now, but there are *two expansions and a solo mode* I need to mention! If you intend to start with the base game, you can [blue]press spacebar[/blue] a few times to skip through the next few boxes.3archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment6411076ac239000
Nekonyancer*Expansion 1: Business.*---This expansion has to do with the symbols in the top-left corner of each building. There are five different ones: [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/https___snipboard.io_UScYWn.jpg[/img] Whenever a street is [green]enclosed and scored,[/green] all players may select one building they own on that street and take a corresponding business token.4archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment6411076ac239000
NekonyancerFor example, imagine that we played [blue]*Ferris Wheel*[/blue] and [red]*Sweet Ice cream*[/red] on the same street. If the street were scored, we would take either a *Leisure token* or a *Restaurant token* from the supply. The [green]*Chillax Spa*[/green] has a *wild* symbol, allowing you to take any type of token. [green]Some buildings allow you to take two tokens at once![/green]5tbp-tile36411076ac239000tbp-tile24-people 8 tbp-tile3-people 7 tbp-tile10-people 6
NekonyancerFor each business type, the player with the most tokens is awarded *$ 10* at the end of the game. If multiple players are tied for the most, they each receive *$ 5.* In addition, each player receives *$ 10* for each complete set of four different business tokens.6archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment6411076ac239000
Nekonyancer*Consultants Expansion*---At the beginning of the game, each player is given one random Consultant card. [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/https___snipboard.io_9n5LaA.jpg[/img] The consultants are characters that give the game an asymmetric feel, where each player has their own [blue]unique ability.[/blue]7archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment6411076ac239000
NekonyancerIn addition to a special ability, each consultant has a *symbol* printed on it. [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/https___snipboard.io_VNoXEY.jpg[/img] For example, the Hacker has a [red]*wild*[/red] symbol. Whenever one of your buildings is scored, you may [green]include your consultant's symbol,[/green] as if that symbol were on the same street as the scored building!8archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment6411076ac239000
Nekonyancer*Solo mode*---In Solo mode, you will play against *the Grifter,* an AI-controlled opponent. [blue]You can choose from three difficulties:[/blue] *Easy:* Grifter gets *+ $ 0* *Medium:* Grifter gets *+ $ 20* *Hard:* Grifter gets *+ $ 50* [green]To win, simply have more money than the Grifter at the end of the game![/green]9archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment6411076ac239000
NekonyancerUnlike a human opponent, the Grifter will always play whatever card is on top of the [red]*Building stack*[/red] - they cannot choose one from their hand. The building on top of the stack will always be flipped *face-up,* so the Human player will always know what the Grifter will play one turn in advance.10tbp-stack6411076ac239000tbp-stack 6
NekonyancerThe Grifter will always place the building in the [green]most lucrative spot[/green] on the board. If there are multiple spots that are equally lucrative, the human player may choose where it is played.11archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment6411076ac239000
NekonyancerIf the Grifter plays a building with an *Enclosement valuation,* like this one... [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/https___snipboard.io_mo3GFt.jpg[/img] Then they will use it to *Enclose* a street. Afterward, if the Grifter owns multiple buildings to which meeples can move, the human player can choose one of them as the meeples' destination.12archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment6411076ac239000
NekonyancerIf you play Solo Mode with the *Business* expansion, the Grifter will always claim a token of the type they have the *least* of. If you play Solo Mode with the *Consultants* expansion, then the Grifter receives an *extra $ 40* at the beginning of the game. When you account for difficulties, that means: *Easy:* + $ 40 *Medium:* + $ 60 *Hard:* + $ 9013archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment6411076ac239000
Nekonyancer[blue]*Thank you for playing through this tutorial for Streets!*[/blue] If you have any questions or comments about the tutorial, feel free to send *Nekonyancer* a message! A big thank you goes out to *Kayvon* and *Mogri* for bringing this game to BGA! Have fun! :D14archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment6411076ac239000
