Nekonyancer[img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img682980aba0c2a0.19976448.jpg[/img] *There are rabbits everywhere!* It’s a full-blown invasion, and it seems like nothing can stop these adorable little critters from multiplying! [green][tip] This 31-step tutorial is best viewed on a computer![/green]1maintitlebar_content000
NekonyancerThe villagers are tired of tripping over bunnies at every turn! You and your opponents will take turns playing cards to get rid of their own bunnies while making others gain as many as possible! [green]At the end of the game, whoever got stuck with the fewest bunnies wins![/green]2maintitlebar_content000
NekonyancerOn each turn, we must select a card in our hand and place it onto one of the spaces on the board. Each player started the game with *3* cards in their hand.3bb_token_8000
NekonyancerWe can only place cards on spaces that are *adjacent* to the center tile or a previously placed card. Since this is a *2-player game,* we will only use spaces to the *left* and *right* of the center tile. If we had a third player, we would also use the spaces above, and with a fourth player, the spaces below.4bb_token_30000
NekonyancerAfter we place a card, we'll trigger its *play effect,* which is printed in the bottom-left corner of the card. For example, the card on the left will let us give one of our bunnies to each of our opponents!5bb_token_7000
NekonyancerAfter we trigger the card's play effects, we'll move our *villager* onto the card we played. [img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img682980ad14ebb7.84194795.jpg[/img] [green]I'll explain more about villagers later.[/green]6bb_token_7000
NekonyancerLet's take our first turn! *Select the leftmost card in our hand! Place it to the left of the center tile!* Then continue.7bb_token_30000
Nekonyancer[red]Did you place the leftmost card to the left of the center, as I instructed? Okay, good![/red] Each player started the game with one bunny in their inventory, but thanks to the card's play effects, we now have [blue]*0,*[/blue] and our opponent has [red]*2.*[/red]8overall_player_board_92143487000overall_player_board_11941354 2 overall_player_board_92143487 1
NekonyancerThe last thing we have to do is draw a card to replace the one we played. There are three face up cards in the *River* we can choose from. If we don't like any of them, we can take a face down card from the deck. *Take the card on the right! Then [red]"Confirm"[/red] your turn at the top!*9bb_token_3010
NekonyancerWhen we ended our turn, another card was automatically drawn from the deck to replace the empty slot in the river. [blue]Now our opponent will go![/blue] [green](Step 10/31)[/green]1bb_token_467c13ac272e6b00
Nekonyancer[blue]Next turn![/blue] Let's make this game more exciting. The *middle* card in our hand is a Mega Bunny Boom, which will put a bunny token on each card in the village, the river, and each player's inventory. *Place it next to the last card we played.* Then continue.1player_name_1194135467c13af9b37d700
NekonyancerWheee! Bunnies everywhere! Next, we have to take a card. As you might expect, when players take cards from the river, they must also take any and all bunnies that are on them. But these bunnies aren't on the cards yet! They'll go on after we end our turn! *Take the card on the right side of the river. Then [red]confirm.[/red]*2bb_token_667c13af9b37d710
NekonyancerBefore we take our next turn, I need to explain villager movement and movement effects. Each card has an icon in the bottom-right corner, indicating a [green]*Movement Effect.*[/green] Whenever players pass *through* cards, they trigger those effects! However, they do NOT trigger the effect of the card they stop on.1maintitlebar_content67c13b24c222700
NekonyancerFor example, the Movement Effect of the first card we played is *+2* bunnies. The effect of the last card we played is *+3* bunnies. We did not trigger those effects when we played those cards because our villager moved *onto* them, not *through* them!2bb_token_767c13b24c222700
NekonyancerHowever, this is not true for the *bunny tokens* all over the board. Whenever a villager encounters a bunny token, they must pick it up, even from cards they stop on.3bb_token_767c13b24c222700
NekonyancerWith all that in mind, take a look at the rightmost card in our hand. It lets us move another player's villager. [red]Hahaha... this is gonna be good.[/red] *1.* Select the *rightmost* card in our hand. *2.* Place it next to our villager. *3.* Click on [red]*nekonekoneko3*[/red] at the top. *4.* Continue.4player_name_1194135467c13b24c222700
Nekonyancer[red]Hah![/red] Between the tokens and the movement effects, they gained a total of 11 bunnies! We also gave them the *carrot token,* which is worth 4 bunnies at the end of the game. They'll probably try to give it away at some point. *Take the leftmost card from the river. [red]Confirm.[/red]*5overall_player_board_9214348767c13b24c222710
Nekonyancer[blue]Heh. This just gets better and better.[/blue] There's only one more open space on the board. Our opponent *must* place a card there, and afterward, their villager will move to it, triggering every movement effect along the way!1bb_token_1167c13b5345f9700
NekonyancerThe play effect of the card they played allowed them to negate the movement effect of one card, but they still gained another 5 bunnies!1bb_token_567c13b8e26d3f00
NekonyancerEvery space on the board is full now, marking the end of *Phase 1!* During *Phase 2,* we must place cards on those same spaces, covering previously played cards. We can't place a card on the space our villager is on. [green](Step 20/31)[/green]1maintitlebar_content67c13b966987100
NekonyancerEach card has an icon in the top-left corner, indicating one of six different *suits.* When we play a card over another, if the two cards are of *different suits,* we must draw however many bunnies are indicated in the top-right corner of the new card. If they are of the *same suit,* we won't!2maintitlebar_content67c13b966987100
Nekonyancer*Select the rightmost card in our hand. Place it right next to our villager. Select [red]nekonekoneko3[/red] at the top.* Then continue.3bb_token_167c13b966987100
Nekonyancer[red]Did you select nekonekoneko3?[/red] We just played a [green]*leaf*[/green] card over a [red]*sun*[/red] card. Since the suits did not match, we drew the number of bunnies in the top-right corner: *3.* Oh well, this was still a nice turn. We forced our opponent to trigger more movement effects but didn't trigger any ourselves! *Draw a face down card from the deck. [red]Confirm.[/red]*4bb_token_167c13b966987110
NekonyancerOur opponent just played a [green]*Leaf*[/green] card next to us. We can't play cards onto the space *our* villager is on, but playing on *other* villagers is fine! *Select the middle card in our hand. Place it onto the space our opponent is on. Draw another card from the deck. [red]Confirm.[/red]*1player_name_1194135467c13c2c59f0410
NekonyancerThis time, the suits matched, so we didn't draw any bunnies! Whenever a card of a matching suit is played, the space becomes *closed.* No other cards can be played on this space for the rest of the game!1bb_token_667c13c49ec48000
NekonyancerThe game will continue as you've seen until... • Every space is *closed* (has a matching pair of cards). OR • The draw pile runs out of cards. [green]At that point, whoever has the fewest bunnies wins![/green]2player_name_1194135467c13c49ec48000
NekonyancerThere's one thing I wasn't able to squeeze into the gameplay: *river effects.* Some cards, like the middle one in our hand, have a little river icon in the bottom-left corner. Whenever such a card is played, the user must trigger the river effect of one card in the river.3bb_token_2067c13c49ec48000
NekonyancerOnly some cards have river effects. They're always indicated at the *bottom-center* of the card. After a river effect is triggered, the card is discarded. If there are bunnies on it, the player must take them. If none of the cards in the river have river effects, nothing happens.4bb_token_1667c13c49ec48000
NekonyancerOkay, you're ready for your first game! Once you have more experience, you might consider toggling one of the variants to add new cards to the deck! *Fox variant:* When you move the fox token through a villager, you can give them one of your bunnies. *Burrow variant:* When another player passes through your burrow card, you can give them one of your bunnies.5maintitlebar_content67c13c49ec48000
Nekonyancer*Mayor card:* This card has no suit. It can be placed on top of any card with no penalty. The space remains open. *Joker card:* This card has a wild suit. It can be placed on top of any card to close the space.6maintitlebar_content67c13c49ec48000
Nekonyancer[blue]*Thank you for playing through this tutorial for Bunny Boom!*[/blue] If you have any questions or comments about the tutorial, feel free to send *Nekonyancer* a message! Big thank yous go out to... • *Guime* for designing this game. • *Ruse.Games* for publishing. • *Andrew Bosley* for illustrating. • *BanBan* for bringing it to BGA. Have fun! :D7maintitlebar_content67c13c49ec48000
