Nekonyancer[img]https://x.boardgamearena.net/data/tutorials/img6785edc6f1fa55.50276806.jpg[/img] Only you can decide how to combine your dice, and whether you should score or sacrifice your cards. But that’s not always an easy choice to make. Scoring more points than your opponents is a real challenge! [green][tip] This tutorial is best viewed on a computer![/green]1maintitlebar_content000
NekonyancerIn *Dicy Cards,* players will take turns rolling dice and scoring points according to the conditions on our scoring cards. We can reroll dice if we want, but we'll have to *freeze* (flip) a card to do so, which may cost us a turn later on! When at least one player has reached *100 points* and all players have had the *same number of turns,* [green]whoever has the most points wins![/green]2maintitlebar_content000
NekonyancerAccording to [blue]*this card,*[/blue] we're the first player, so let's get started! As you can see, BGA already rolled the six dice for us.3dc_firstplayer000dc_firstplayer 2
NekonyancerNow we have to choose one of our [blue]*five Scoring Cards*[/blue] and score it based on our dice values. On each card, *white dice* indicate conditions that we must meet in order to use the card. *Dark dice* can be added on to increase our score, but are not required.4dc_card_front_3000dc_card_front_1 2 dc_card_front_2 2 dc_card_front_3 2 dc_card_front_4 2 dc_card_front_5 2
NekonyancerFor example, [green]*this card*[/green] requires us to have two dice of *consecutive* values, like 5-6. Other consecutive dice can be added on to increase our score but are not required. [green][tip] You can read details about each card by hovering over them![/green]7dc_card_front_2000dc_card_front_2 3
NekonyancerOur score is always equal to the *sum* of the dice we use. BGA automatically analyzes the maximum amount of points we can get from each card, given our current dice.8dc_card_front_2000
NekonyancerHmm. Given our current roll, [green]*this particular card*[/green] looks pretty good. It requires us to have two of dice with the same values, like 3-3 and 5-5. We already have two 5s and a 6. If we get just one more 6, we can score a lot of points from this!9dc_card_front_3000dc_card_front_3 3
NekonyancerTo get another 6, let's *Reroll* our dice! Each time we do, it will require us to *freeze* (flip) a card. Let's try it! *1.* Click on [blue]*"Reroll dice"*[/blue] at the top. *2.* Click on [green]*this card*[/green] to freeze it. *3.* Select [red]*these three dice.*[/red] *4. [red]Reroll![/red]*10player_name_11941354010dc-dice-2 1 dc-dice-3 1 dc-dice-6 1 dc_card_front_5 3
Nekonyancer*Great!* Our three 1s were rerolled. BGA automatically reorganized them from smallest to biggest. [green]We got the second 6 we wanted![/green]1dc-die-166a473a6ceb5500dc-dice-1 3
NekonyancerUnfortunately, [red]*this card*[/red] is now *frozen.* We won't be able to use it until it is unfrozen. Still, that reroll was definitely worth it. [green][tip] We'll go over unfreezing later![/green]2dc_card_back_566a473a6ceb5500dc_card_back_5 1
NekonyancerSince we're satisfied with our dice now, let's score points! *1.* Click on [blue]*"Score points"*[/blue] at the top. *2.* Select the [green]*center scoring card.*[/green] *3. [red]Confirm![/red]*3player_name_1194135466a473a6ceb5510button_score 2 dc_card_front_3 3
Nekonyancer*We scored 22 points!* As you can see, scoring a card also involves freezing it. [blue]Now our opponent will take a turn![/blue]1dc_card_back_366a473b3de96c00
NekonyancerIf you scroll down a little to examine our opponent's cards, you'll see that they're *exactly the same* as ours. This will always be the case.2dc_card_front_766a473b3de96c00
Nekonyancer*Next turn!* Wow, our initial roll is pretty good! We can use [green]*this card*[/green] to get 18 points! Hmm. If we're planning on using that card, maybe we should freeze another one and reroll [red]*this die.*[/red] [blue]Do you think we should?[/blue]1dc-die-266a473ed66f3c00dc-dice-4 1 dc_card_front_2 3
Nekonyancer*Nah.* Remember, the score always equals the *sum* of the dice used. If we get the perfect reroll and end up with *1-2-3-4-5-6,* that will only increase our score by *3.* 3 points is probably not worth another freeze.2dc-die-166a473ed66f3c00
NekonyancerIf we're not rerolling, let's score already! *1.* Click on [blue]*"Score points."*[/blue] *2.* Select [green]*this card.*[/green] *3. [red]Confirm![/red]*3player_name_1194135466a473ed66f3c10button_score 2 dc_card_front_2 3
NekonyancerWe only have two cards left, but we got two 6s, which is perfect for [green]*this card.*[/green] It has a *special ability* at the top - when we score with it, the players to our left and right must select and freeze one of their cards! (Thus, in a 4-player game, only 2 out of 3 opponents will be affected by this.)1player_name_1194135466a47408efcf200dc_card_front_1 3
NekonyancerWe don't need a reroll this time. *1.* Click on [blue]*"Score points."*[/blue] *2.* Select [green]*this card.*[/green] *3. [red]Confirm![/red]*2player_name_1194135466a47408efcf210button_score 2 dc_card_front_1 3
NekonyancerWe only have one card left. It requires us to have at least 1 odd die. It will score all of our odd dice. That adds up to... [red]Ugh. 8 points? Pathetic.[/red] And we don't have any other cards we can freeze to reroll our dice either.1player_name_1194135466a47442d959100
NekonyancerI think we should *skip our turn.* When we do, we'll *unfreeze* all of our frozen cards. [tip] If *all* of our cards were frozen, we would be forced to skip! *Click on [blue]Skip turn[/blue] at the top! Then [red]confirm![/red]*2player_name_1194135466a47442d959110button_skip 2
Nekonyancer[blue]One more thing about skipping:[/blue] Each time a player does it, all their opponents get to unfreeze a card of their choice! Our opponent will do that now.1maintitlebar_content66a4745390a2500
NekonyancerHeh. They unfroze [blue]*this card*[/blue] and scored it, so now we have to freeze one!1dc_card_back_666a4746feb60c00dc_card_back_6 2
Nekonyancer*Select [blue]this card[/blue] to freeze it! Then [red]confirm![/red]*2player_name_1194135466a4746feb60c10dc_target_3 2
Nekonyancer[blue]Okay, I think you got the hang of it![/blue] The game will continue as you've seen until one player reaches *100 points.* Then, after all players have had the same number of turns, [green]whoever has the most points wins![/green] If there's a tie, whoever has the most unfrozen cards wins!1maintitlebar_content66a4747fdcea200
NekonyancerBy the way, Dicy Cards's default mode is called *Glacial mode,* which always uses the same five scoring cards. Once you get your feet wet, I suggest switching to *Interglacial mode,* in which *5 of 12* cards are randomly chosen!2maintitlebar_content66a4747fdcea200
Nekonyancer[blue]*Thank you for playing through this tutorial for Dicy Cards!*[/blue] If you have any questions or comments about the tutorial, feel free to send *Nekonyancer* a message! Big thank yous go out to *Eric B. Vogel* for designing the game, *Blue Orange* for publishing, and *Moof* for bringing it to BGA! Have fun! :D3maintitlebar_content66a4747fdcea200
